2023/2024 The Live Music Season

We are thrilled to present our 45th season—17 performances—every one with live music!

Our dazzling, crowd-pleasing revival of The Snow Queen, based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, opens the 2023/24 Season with Orchestra Next playing award-winning Portland composer Kenji Bunch’s score live at all performances.

The family traditions and power of community will come together again in December as we continue our seven performance run of The Nutcracker with Orchestra Next.

In February we’ll take a rollicking ride back to the glamorous 1920s with lavish parties, gorgeous costumes, and all the glitz of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s great American novel in Gatsby, featuring the music of Wynton Marsalis played live by Orchestra Next’s Jazz Ensemble. Plus, Resident Choreographer Suzanne Haag premieres her Portrait in Glass, based on Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie.

We welcome two-time GRAMMY® nominee and New York-based musician Tracy Bonham in April for an exciting collaboration with Suzanne Haag and a tribute to the soundscapes of Haag’s youth. The Tracy Bonham program opens with Gerald Arpino‘s Reflections and Toni Pimble’s Slipstream before Tracy and her band rock the Silva Concert Hall stage.

Our 2023/24 Season ends in fanciful flight through Neverland at the world premiere of Toni Pimble’s all new full-length ballet, Peter Pan. We’ve commissioned Kenji Bunch to create a new score—played live by Orchestra Next at all performances—for J.M. Barrie’s story of the boy who will never grow up.

We’re excited to share these exceptional Eugene Ballet dance experiences with you at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts.
