Adult Division Classes

EBA offers Adult Classes for all levels – for those new to ballet, as well as those with years of experience, we have classes for you. In a supportive and welcoming environment, EBA is committed to providing inspiring and motivating experiences that support dance education and health goals for our adult community. Our adult ballet and fitness classes are taught by experienced faculty, providing exceptional training and experience. We hope you’ll join us!

2023/24 Adult Division Classes

Eugene Ballet Academy offers Adult Classes in fitness and dance for all ages and levels of experience! Our Adult Ballet classes support the development of an aesthetic awareness, study and training of the art of classical ballet. The new Adult Tap class allows for a fun and comfortable experience in which to improve rhythm and coordination skills. We’re excited to also offer a new Adult Mat Pilates class that focuses on supportive body toning and conditioning.  We hope you will join us for a new season of exercise, dance and fun!

Adult Ballet Foundations

*Term Commitment Required. No Drop-In Available*

Thursday 6:30-7:45pm 

This class is perfect for dancers with no ballet experience and will cover all of the basics. Dancers will also receive a vocabulary list upon enrollment that will complement the content covered in this session. No ballet attire necessary (athletic wear or dance wear welcome).

Students must enroll in the full session as this class is progressive and builds upon previous classes.

Adult Beginning Ballet

Tuesday 9:45-11:00am

This class is for the adult student who has a very basic knowledge of ballet with some previous experience.  This class is perfect for the student who may have danced some as a young child or has recently been inspired and would like to expand their knowledge and experience.  Curriculum focuses on exercises, techniques and steps of classical ballet with an emphasis on terminology and body alignment. Classes include warm-up, barre and center floor work.

Adult Mat Pilates

Thursday 10:30-11:30am

Utilizing the mat exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, this class focus on stabilizing the core, improving posture and strengthening the total body. Mat classes use body weight to strengthen and tone. Exercise props are also used to provide additional support for strengthening, toning and lengthening. Please bring your own mat. 

Adult Beginning/Intermediate Ballet

Wednesday 7:15-8:45pm

This class is for the dancer who has had 1-2 years of experience in ballet. Whether you are a beginning student looking to develop more skills or a dancer who is looking to refresh or hone their technique, this class may be for you.

Adult Intermediate Ballet

Monday 6:45-8:15pm

For dancers with 3+ years of experience.

Adult Tap

*Term Commitment Required. No Drop-In Available*

Tuesday 7:00-8:00pm

Adult Tap is perfect for those who want to build their coordination and rhythm while using their feet as a musical instrument. This class welcomes tappers of all levels! Focus is on tap vocabulary, foot work, and pattern building – get ready for some “Toe-Twisters”. Through warm-up exercises and choreography, Adult Tap students will learn how to shift weight, execute motions efficiently, and express rhythm though sound and movement. Join us for this classic dance style and get ready to make some noise!

Students must enroll in the full session as this class is progressive and builds upon previous classes.

General Division Classes For Adults

We are excited to announce our General Division Youth classes for adults! These classes are for intermediate to advanced adults. An annual commitment and approval by instructor is required.

Tips for Adult Division Dancers

Whether fulfilling your dreams of learning to dance, brushing up on old skills, or looking for a fun activity, making sure you’re well prepared both physically and mentally will help you to make the most of your dance experience.  

  1. Make sure you have the right clothing and shoe attire for the demands of the dance style and that will work for you.   
  2. Hydrate and be sure you’ve fueled your body for optimum energy output. 
  3. Give yourself time to mentally prepare. 
  4. Be ready to enjoy time for yourself.

What to Wear

Ballet Classes

Ballet attire or fitted athletic clothing may be worn. Leotard colors and skirts are free choice. Slippers are required. 

Modern Classes (General Division class)

Comfortable athletic clothing, pants preferred. Bare feet.

Pilates Classes

Comfortable athletic clothing, pants preferred. Bare feet.

Tap Classes

Comfortable athletic clothing. Tap Shoes.
