Summer Youth Classes Levels 1-6
June 24 – July 26 (5 Weeks)
The Professional and General Divisions includes Levels 1-6 and advancement is based on annual evaluation.
*Placement is required for most classes in the general and professional divisions. Please note there are no level requirements for the Summer Session.*

Level 1
Upon placement in Level 1, students begin to receive more comprehensive and structured training within the Eugene Ballet Academy syllabus. Focus at this level is on slow repetition of movement as well as a better understanding of how the muscles support movement in dance.

- Jazz – Monday 4:00-5:00pm
- Stretch and Flex (Level 1/2) – Monday 5:00-5:30pm
- Acro – Wednesday 5:15-6:15pm
Level 2
Upon placement in Level 2, emphasis is placed on each student being able to demonstrate continued emotional maturity, focus, and attention span. At this level, students are expected to recognize spoken ballet terms and perform movements with added focus on quality.

Level 3
Upon placement in level 3, students are given more advanced steps within the Eugene Ballet Academy curriculum. Focus is placed on their ability to memorize combinations, execute steps with proper technique, understand the basic arm positions/transitions, and the student should be ready or nearly ready to begin pointe work. It is typically at this stage in training that we see a greater commitment to dance and development of a young artist.

Level 4

Level 5
Students at this level can expect to train 4 days a week in ballet curriculum as well as other dance genres: jazz, modern, contemporary, and conditioning. Level 5 dancers can expect the difficulty, length of exercise, and number of repetitions to increase. Excellence becomes more challenging as complexity increases.

Level 6
Level 6 is the highest level in the current training curriculum. Students at this level can expect to train 5 days a week in ballet curriculum as well as other dance genres: jazz, modern, contemporary, and conditioning. Level 6 dancers can expect the difficulty, length of exercise, and number of repetitions to increase. At this level, a strong technical foundation should be in place.
