Summer Intensive 2020

*INFORMATION UPDATED 7/15/2020 to reflect necessary changes due to Covid-19*

Dear Dancers,

As we strive to provide the best training possible under these new circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to limit in-person participation in our Summer Intensive this August and have created a program that includes both virtual and in-person options. The Intensive will now be ONE week, August 10-14, with new pricing packages. Dancers residing in the Eugene area will have the opportunity to register for in-studio classes, following specific protocol. The exception would include any out of town dancer who has quarantined in the Eugene area for 14 days prior to August 10. We feel this plan is in the best interest of all—our faculty, staff and dancers. Dancers signing in from out of town, or choosing to remain at home, will be able to join the in-studio classes via live-stream through Zoom.

The online experience has become a lifeline and an essential teaching platform for dancers and dance educators. EBA has been offering zoom classes for our dance families since late March and have found effective teaching techniques that are keeping our dancers engaged and progressing. We do recognize that this form of learning can be challenging for multiple reasons, but we’d like to encourage dancers to try our program if they are able. Our goal is to support dancers in finding ways to get the best out of this new style of training by offering guidance and encouragement where needed for engagement and ideas for troubleshooting the challenges dancers face while training at home. Online coaching sessions are available prior and during the intensive for students who find they would like additional assistance tailored to their individual setup. We know that online education will continue to evolve and become a consistent part of our dance education opportunities. We’re on board for the journey and would like you to join us!

We are in the process of equipping our studios with new technology that will allow us to stream remotely our in-person classes and offer other virtual learning experiences. We’re excited about the opportunities that online instruction can offer and look forward to new experiences and connections with dance professionals from around the country including guest artists from American Ballet Theater, Houston Ballet and more this summer!
